Bach Moc Luong Tu It is considered difficult by many adults, but Bao Khanh thinks it is very convenient, because she used to climb before Lao Than, Nhiu Co SanLao Cai in cold rain, or peak Ta XuaSon La.

Ms. Ha is an English teacher, living in Hanoi. Having disliked sports activities along with herniated disc disease for many years, she never thought of climbing mountains. On the contrary, the 6-year-old daughter from a young age has a lot of energy, likes to explore, good health. From the age of 4 months, the couple let their children travel by car to Sa Pa, Lao Cai; Thung Nai, Hoa Binh; Yen Bai; Son La; Phan Thiet; Da Nang… Although there are many trips to go through the pass for a long time and continuously, Khanh is still excited and healthy.

At the end of 2021, during a conversation between mother and daughter, Khanh pointed to a photo of a person climbing a mountain on her mother’s phone and asked “How can I get so close to the clouds?”. After being explained by her mother and showing many beautiful pictures, Khanh decided that she would climb the mountain.

The mother and daughter’s first trip on New Year’s Day 2022. Ms. Ha consulted experienced people who should choose the destination of Lao Than, Lao Cai, with a road that is not too difficult to go, and can combine hunting clouds. . She took her children to buy some specialized items such as climbing shoes, canes, backpacks, windproof jackets…

Ms. Ha also mentally prepared that she might be bothered by back pain, so she brought a spinal belt and told the porter that if she couldn’t go home, she should contact another local porter to carry her. But the trip was more convenient than she imagined, Bao Khanh was excited, constantly running and jumping with a lot of energy, each time they were tired, they stopped to rest and continued, but did not give up.

Approaching the top of Lao Than, the mother and daughter were surprised when they first saw a dense sea of clouds below the valley. Khanh danced with joy when after a long journey of half a day, she also saw a sea of clouds just like her imagination.

The way down the mountain was the most difficult for Ms. Ha because her muscles faltered, leading to knee pain. In contrast, Khanh walks very fast, she watches the porter to learn how to walk safely. “Many times, I left my mother far behind on the flat road and down the mountain, with porter or other uncles and aunts met on the way to chat. At the end of the trip, I shared that I didn’t want to go home, while my mother was tired. “, Ha said with a smile. Since Lao Than, mountain climbing trips are gifts that Ha promises to give her children when they achieve good results in their studies.

Change of mother and child after climbing

From her mother’s promise, Khanh studied more actively, achieved many achievements in English presentation competitions, math Olympiads… “Khanh is smart, quick to learn but lazy to study, I’m really happy because from now on I was motivated to strive. That was the first change after the trip to Lao Than”, Ms. Ha shared.

Ha’s husband could not join the climb due to a ligament injury. He often supports his wife and children by taking them to the foot of the mountain and finding a place to stay around, working while resting and supporting his wife and children from afar when needed.

During the time at home, mother and daughter practice climbing stairs for 20-30 minutes every day without stopping, if tired, slow down. During the practice, Khanh also had to carry his own backpack, including medical supplies, energy bars, water, clothes, lighters, and emergency whistles. Ms. Ha said it is very important to get used to carrying things by yourself, in case of injury or loss, children can keep themselves safe before adults assist. Up to now, children can distinguish by themselves the types of ointments, how to wear clothes and socks to avoid insects and snakes. In addition, she also instructs her children on how to stay calm and handle when they get lost.

The trip to Nhiu Co San before the Lunar New Year is their most memorable memory and also the time when Khanh was able to apply many of the lessons taught by his mother. Two days of climbing the weather was bad, with thunderstorms, hail and freezing cold. This mountain has a “specialty” that is steep slopes combined with slippery rain water, causing Ms. Ha to walk and fumble and fall painfully in her hip. Khanh is more confident, if the road downhill is difficult, she sits down to slide, both fast and safe.

“I’m also a bit surprised because the child can think of many ways on his own, in any situation he will happily accept it, unlike adults who can be afraid of dirt and inconvenience,” Ha shared.

Also on the trip, mother and daughter got lost when coming down to the shack from the top, because the porter needed to go down in front of the firewood to warm everyone. Although it was 16:30 in the afternoon, it was raining, so it was cloudy, and Ha was worried that when the darkness fell, she would not be able to recognize the direction. The cold weather made her love her son even more, so she apologized for taking her son away. At this time, the 6-year-old girl is the biggest spiritual support for her mother.

True to the lesson, the girl told her mother to stay calm and that the child would not cry to be able to solve the problem. Then don’t try to go further to avoid getting lost further. Khanh found a low place to rest, where mother and daughter were sheltered by trees from the wind. Taking advantage of the phone signal at times of loss, Ms. Ha informed her husband that she was lost. If they can find the porter, they will contact them again, and if they don’t see the message, ask the locals to go to the forest to search.

Fortunately, about 30 minutes later, the porter did not see the mother and daughter coming down to the shack, so he went back to look. He was also very worried because the cold weather, the dark forest could put the mother and daughter in danger or hunger because the backpacks had been taken down to the shack first. That night, it continued to rain heavily, thunder and lightning, so they could not go down the mountain, and the three of them did not eat. At noon the next day, they cook porridge with cold rice, eat to gain strength down the mountain. The trip was hungry, tired, cold, but for mother and daughter, this is the most memorable memory.

After going to Nhiu Co San, Khanh also learned many jungle skills from the porter. One day when coming home from work, Mrs. Ha saw that her child was breaking and tying firewood, and asked if she knew that she was practicing making a clothes drying rack when it got wet. If it was before, after a tiring day of work, if she saw her child playing like that, Ms. Ha would be angry and could scold, but now she will explain to her child how to play appropriately, to avoid damaging the furniture. I understand you are trying to explore the world, learn new things.

“The biggest change is being friends with my children. Talking to my children a lot, I become calmer, respect and teach them according to their personality. On the contrary, I also like to confide in my mother, express my feelings and say I love you. many mothers,” said Ha with a smile.

The next change that Ms. Ha noticed in her son was being more brave, not afraid of difficulties. As recently, when climbing Bach Moc Luong Tu, he had to go through a wooden ladder, underneath is a fast-flowing stream and sharp rocks, but Khanh still went through it alone. The other thing, the 6-year-old girl is learning visually when she sees streams, small animals or simply different colors of azaleas.

For her part, Ha found relief from back pain caused by herniated disc disease. The body is also more flexible and has more endurance. She said that both were “addicted” to mountain climbing. Here, mother and daughter will together conquer the high mountains in the north such as Nam Kang Ho Tao and Pusilung in Lai Chau.
