Russia bans British Prime Minister from entering

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today that it has banned Prime Minister Boris Johnson and a number of other British officials from entering the country.

Besides the Prime Minister Johnsonon the banned list also includes British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace and 10 other members of the British government and politicians.

The move was made in response to the “unprecedented hostile act of the British government, especially the imposition of sanctions against high-ranking Russian officials”, a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said. , adding that they will be expanding the list soon.

Prime Minister Johnson went to Kiev last weekend for an unannounced trip. During the visit, he announced that Britain would provide Ukraine with 120 new armored vehicles and anti-ship missile systems, in addition to other modern military equipment worth about 130 million USD announced earlier.

At a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Johnson announced that Britain would continue to increase sanctions to Russia because of the military campaign in Ukraine. “We will affect Russia’s ability to use resources,” he stressed.

After Russia launched a military campaign in Ukraine, the US led its allies to impose many rounds of sanctions against Russia, such as removing some Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system, banning the import of many goods from Russia. and abolished the country’s most-favored-nation status. The US also announced a ban on imports of oil and other energy from Russia. Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) and Japan imposed a ban on coal imports. The EU said it was looking to gradually remove oil and gas supplies from Russia, but did not want to impose an immediate embargo.

Russia responded by banning the export of more than 200 items in the telecommunications, medical, automotive, agricultural, electrical engineering and technology sectors until the end of 2022. Moscow also asked “unfriendly” countries to buy them. Russian energy is denominated in rubles and can be expanded to include commodities that have to be traded in this currency.
