Earlier in the first quarter, turnover shrimp export of Vietnam has reached more than 900 million USD, up 37% over the same period in 2021.

The increase in shrimp exports is because the European and American markets are preparing food sources for consumers during the summer holidays. This is the time when most students and students have many field trips and importers will also prepare stockpiles for the fall.

As for Vietnam’s largest shrimp import market, the US, the good growth in this market has helped Vietnam maintain its No. 4 position in the main shrimp suppliers for the US.

Currently, the inflation situation in the US has increased sharply, but with the US economic stabilization policies, shrimp demand is expected to increase strongly this year, according to the Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the shrimp farming area in the country is over 740,000 hectares; output reaches over 900,000 tons/year. Particularly, the output of black tiger shrimp reached over 250,000 tons, ranking first in the world.

Although shrimp area only increased by about 1.5%/year, shrimp production increased sharply by 10%/year. This factor proves the continuous improvement of the farming process, with a much higher yield than before. The prosperous market and good production capacity will help Vietnamese shrimp products continue to assert their position in other countries.
