After chasing all the bees, the plane took off to Hanoi at 18:20 on the same day, 1 hour later than expected.

According to experts, this is a rare case. There are more plane crashes with birds during takeoff/landing.

Collisions with birds can cause warping, breaking the propeller of the engine, even burning the engine, and concave the nose of the plane. There are quite a few flights that have to be delayed for many hours if a bird is detected in the engine…

In 2021, a Vietnam Airlines plane had to take off 45 minutes late because a flock of birds filled the runway. In July 2020, also at Phu Quoc International Airport, a flight crew also detected birds on the runway, after that, aviation security chased 2 birds out of the area.

There was a flight that had to stop taking off for an hour because it was discovered that there were snakes … in the luggage compartment of the passenger compartment.

In addition, there are many cases where the plane had to make an emergency landing because the bird hit the engine. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the airports where bird-related incidents occur the most are Tan Son Nhat, Dong Hoi, Phu Quoc, and Vinh.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam proposed to the Ministry of Transport to approve the investment policy of the project of installing a system to detect foreign objects on the runway, also known as the “chicken bird” project.
