Covid-19 vaccine does not affect puberty and reproductive function of children

About science, vaccines Covid-19 mRNA has no mechanism to affect genetic structure, does not interact with DNA, so it does not affect puberty and reproductive function of children.

In response to the concern information of some parents about “Covid-19 mRNA vaccination affecting the fertility of children as adults; long-term effects on children’s health, including concerns about the risk of infertilityAssociate Professor-Dr. Duong Thi Hong, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, said Ministry of Health approved the use of 2 Covid-19 mRNA vaccines for children aged 12-17 years old and from 2 to under 12 years old, namely Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

“These two vaccines have the mRNA component of the virus, but when entering the body, there is absolutely no interaction with human DNA, so there is no risk of causing genetic disorders, or long-term effects on human health. Reproductive Health (infertility disorder) or cancer… as parents are worried,” said Ms. Hong.

Also in the opinion of experts on vaccines and vaccinationshas not found an association between the use of vaccines of these two manufacturers with adverse health effects.

Dr. Dr. Le Kien Ngai, Head of Infection Prevention and Control Department, Central Children’s Hospital, added: Covid-19 vaccine mRNA vaccine has been deployed in more than 50 countries, especially in Western Thai area. Binh Duong has had 20 countries vaccinated.

Dr. Ngai shared that the mRNA vaccine, when entering cells, will help the cells synthesize the spike protein SAR-CoV-2, which has an antigenic component that activates the human immune system.

Once functional, the mRNA is destroyed by cellular enzymes. Thus, in theory, mRNA should not affect the nucleus of the cell.

According to scientific analysis, parents can be completely assured because there is no mechanism affecting the genetic structure.

Experts on vaccines and immunizations note that in order for children to receive the Covid-19 vaccine safely, doctors recommend that parents follow the health monitoring timelines: 30 minutes after vaccination, 24 hours, 3 days first, 1 week and 28 days after injection.

After injection, there may be changes in tachycardia, chest pain, shortness of breath. Therefore, after vaccination, children should not heavy physical activity (causes shortness of breath, chest pain, tachycardia) to avoid confusing symptoms of complications after injection. At the same time, strenuous physical activity can also trigger undesirable reactions.
