Four years of marriage of John Huy Tran and his life partner
Every day, John Huy Tran and his partner – Nhiem Huynh – cook together, take care of the little dog, and don’t forget to kiss each other before going to bed.
On the occasion of their wedding anniversary (April 15), choreographer John Huy Tran and his partner went on a vacation in Quang Nam, writing words of love for each other on their personal pages. At the age of 43, he is one of the famous dance choreographers of the Vietnamese entertainment industry. But with John Huy Tran, the happiest and most successful thing is the decision to marry Nhiem Huynh after many years together.

Currently they live in an apartment in Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City. Every morning, both of them wake up to cook, drink coffee and listen to music. In their free time, the two take the dog they have adopted for more than a year for a walk. Occasionally, they organize short trips to “warm up” affection. Nhiem Huynh said: “13 acquaintances, 5 years of living together and four years of marriage, we still hope to have many more years together”.
John Huy Tran is grateful to his partner who always loves and shares everything in life. They’ve been together for nine years before they decide marriage registration in Canada. The overseas Vietnamese choreographer said that when he was dating, he often pushed Nhiem Huynh away, then they both found new people, but eventually reunited. After many times “the mirror is broken again”, John Huy Tran realizes that Nhiem Huynh is the person who can accept everything in him, the overseas Vietnamese choreographer also believes in his partner completely.
After getting married, Huy Tran bought an apartment far from the city center because he wanted a quiet space. Although he didn’t like it because he had to work far away, Nhiem Huynh ignored his personal inconvenience to build a home together. Every day, my partner always comes home to have dinner with Huy Tran. “Nem Huynh is thoughtful and understands the psychology of others. At this age, I need my family more than anything else,” said the artist.
Not only loving and pampering, Nhiem Huynh is also interested in John Huy Tran’s work. Every time the choreographer releases a new project, his partner also participates in the production and promotion of the product. In 2019, John Huy Tran introduced the dance play Gaia, raised the issue of air pollution, water sources, felling of trees and deforestation. The partner stands behind the organization, makes the guest list, takes care of his image so that he shines on stage.
In 2021, John Huy Tran suffered from emotional disorders and depression. In the early stages, he could not get out of bed, eat, walk, or talk. “Every night, I have nightmares, trouble sleeping, weakness and paralysis. I need to count to three for every step I take, or I will feel pain. I need help with bathing and very dependent on others. “, I said. At that time, the choreographer cried, hugged Nhiem Huynh and begged “Don’t leave me” for fear that his partner could not stand it.
Experiencing challenges, the two’s feelings become stronger. His partner finds ways to make Huy Tran happy, take care of him, and massage his head every night. For many months, Nhiem Huynh worked online from home, spending time taking John Huy Tran to see a therapist.

From the day of marriage, husband Huy Tran became cheerful and open, changing to reconcile life. Previously, Nhiem Huynh did not like cooking and washing dishes, now he is willing to go online to learn how to cook Western dishes according to the taste of the male choreographer. Knowing that John Huy Tran loves animals, he bought a dog for both of them to take care of. Every night, they do not forget to give each other a kiss, good night.
Although the performance works in contact with many people, the artist said that he has never let his partner get jealous. He did not hide anything from Nhiem Huynh. “We have codes to unlock each other’s phones or social media accounts. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we both tell each other,” said John Huy Tran. Whenever we disagree, our choreographer always says, “We need time to think and we’ll come back to talk when we calm down.”
The duo planned to have a baby several years ago through medical help, but it was not easy to do. “Children are predestined, we think if there is one more child in the house, the home will be more complete,” said John Huy Tran.
