Sony’s next high-end smartphone, Xperia 1 IV, has appeared on the Geekbench performance page.

According to the list, Sony Xperia 1 IV with model number XQ-CT54 will have a chip called taro – codename for Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Previous rumors said that this phone could be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen. 1+ but the Geekbench appearance suggests that may not be the case.

The source also revealed the single-core and multi-core scores of the device, 1,204 and 3,352 points respectively, equivalent to many phones running Snapdragon 8 Gen-1 chip. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip is expected to be clocked lower to avoid overheating issues, so performance isn’t expected to increase much.

The listing also reveals that the flagship will have a 12GB RAM version and run Android 12. The most powerful version will be integrated with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal memory. The XQ-CT54 will be the European version of the Sony Xperia 1 IV while the XQ-CT72 and XQ-CQ72 have appeared in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database in November.

Sumaho believes that the XQ-CT54 and the US version with model number XQ-CT64 will both be eSIM compatible.

According to previous reports, the Sony Xperia 1 IV will have major camera upgrades and this could lead to a price increase of 6 – 20%. Previously, Xperia 1 III was more expensive than most high-end phones of 2022 at $1,299.99 (equivalent to VND 29.77 million). Most likely, the next version of Sony will still increase in price, possibly reaching the milestone of USD 1,800 (about VND 41.22 million).

The Xperia 1 IV is expected to offer a 6.5-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5,000mAh battery. At the same time, the device will retain a physical fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Since the phone has been certified by the EEC and has also appeared on Geekbench, the launch time will not be far away. The latest rumors suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 IV will be launched in May, worthy of the “rivalry” of the Galaxy S22 Series.
