In 2017, Apple debut Move To iOS on Google Play Store for easy data transfer from Android phone to iPhone. But it took 5 years for Google to have equivalent software on Apple’s app store Switch To Android. The common point of both is to help users with just a few simple steps to move most data from old phones to new phones of different platforms.

Switch To Android allows direct data transfer or transfer from iCloud to Google Drive or Google Photos. Users can also create a backup on Google Drive, and the phone will automatically sync to the new Android phone when it’s ready. In addition to photos, videos, contacts, calendars, Google also backs up messages and doesn’t forget to remind users to turn off iMessage on old iPhones.

Before there Switch To Android, users have to use 3rd party software or do it manually. Steps such as copying data to a computer, copying back to an Android phone all require someone with certain knowledge and are not easy to perform.

According to 9to5Google, the application is still in the unfinished stage. Users can’t find apps on the App Store yet, but they can proactively install them first here.
