Impersonating the National Credit Information Center to scam borrowers

Recently, according to some customers at the branch of the National Credit Information Center (CIC) in Ho Chi Minh City, a company impersonating CIC has a large-scale line, specializes in defrauding customers in a sophisticated way.

Accordingly, to create trust for customers, this company uses the name “CYC” (almost similar to the name CIC), the company’s employees claim to be CIC officers and ask customers to provide personal information. such as ID/CCCD, income, occupation… to receive notifications of preferential loan packages.

This fraudulent company also claims to have links with a number of credit institutions to give customers preferential loans, provided that customers have to pay the “insurance” fee for the loan in advance. The company even provides customers with the real website address of CIC for customers to check information. After the customer makes the loan insurance payment by mail, the loan is not received and cannot be contacted anymore.

Customers do not provide personal information to service providers without clear authentication, to avoid losing money unjustly.

“It is illegal for subjects to impersonate and use CIC’s website mentioned above to cheat and create customer trust in order to appropriate people’s money, and seriously affects the image and reputation of CIC and the Bank. State-owned banks as well as affecting credit granting activities of credit institutions” – CIC information.

It is known that CIC is a national public information center that operates not for profit, all products and services of CIC are aimed at customers and for the benefit of the community. In addition to providing information to serve the industry, CIC supports and does not charge borrowers to access credit through CIC’s Borrower Connection Portal…

CIC asserts that it does not directly contact borrowers for the purpose of lending capital, does not collect fees to support loans, does not collect money such as “insurance” on loans. Any act of impersonating CIC to defraud customers is against the law.

Therefore, this agency warns people who need to borrow money not to access the link impersonating CIC; do not pay fees to any entity impersonating CIC to provide credit reports or loan requests. Any act of impersonating CIC to collect money from borrowers is against the law.

In addition, customers are careful when sharing personally identifiable information such as ID card, CCCD with service providers, only sharing information with really reputable and reliable service providers.
