Run more than 1,000km on 1 charge

At the CES 2022 technology exhibition in January, Mercedes introduced an electric car concept called Mercedes Vision EQXX. This is essentially a prototype product and not a commercial vehicle.

Recently, this model started its journey from Sindelfingen street (Baden-Württemberg state, Germany), crossing the territory of Sweden and Italy, before arriving at Cassis, a town on the Mediterranean coast of France.

Thus, the total distance that Vision EQXX travels is 1,008km. It is worth mentioning that, during the journey, the car does not have to be charged. Even when arriving, the battery of this car still has 15% remaining, equivalent to an additional 140km of travel. Thus, the average electricity consumption is a record low of 8.7 kWh/100km (7.1 kWh/62 miles).

“The Vision EQXX is the most energy-efficient vehicle Mercedes has ever built,” said Mercedes-Benz President and CEO Ola Kallenius.

If compared with current electric cars, this is a challenging number. Most electric vehicles on the market today have a range of 320-480km, while some earlier models have less driving range. Most electric vehicles currently have a driving range of 350 – 480km.

Up to now, Mercedes’ EQS has the highest range on the market with 768km, followed by Tesla’s Model S Long Range with 652km.

“The range will increase further before it can be reduced, which will become a reality when electric vehicle charging stations are as ubiquitous as gas stations,” said Markus Schafer, chief technology officer (CTO) of Mercedes. -Benz said.

This position further emphasized that the company aims to produce electric cars with power consumption of less than 10 kWh per 100km, saving more than one third compared to the average consumption ranging from 12 to 15 kWh of cars. electric cars today.
