“Today we bid farewell to a hero. Vladimir Petrovich Frolov died fighting the nationalists in Ukraine. Major General Frolov is the deputy commander of the 8th Combined Army Group of the Southern Military District, one of the main units participating in Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. This is also considered the central force of the Southern Military District on the southern flank of Russia, protecting the territory from threats from the direction of Europe.
This is the second Russian general-level officer to be confirmed dead while fighting in Ukraine. In an update on the operation in early March, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that an army general had died in action in Ukraine, but did not identify himself.
