In a statement Sunday, Massachusetts State Police said its bomb squad was called to Terminal A just after 4 p.m. after security personnel discovered a suspicious object in a bag during a check. check checked baggage.

Ultimately, police said the suspicious item turned out to be a PlayStation console.

They said the console is in a state of deterioration due to age or damage. They said its condition had caused abnormalities in the images when it was X-rayed, raising concerns.

State police said soldiers were fully cleared shortly after 5 p.m., allowing passengers to return to the station.

Shortly after it became completely clear, Delta Air Lines told NBC Boston that it would organize flights whenever possible to ensure that passengers forced to evacuate the terminal could depart. It said passengers would be rebooked if they were unable to make their flight, due to “crew time limits” or other issues.
