The notice clearly states that Power Plan VIII is a particularly important national sector plan in the system of national sector plans, which has attracted the attention of localities and has many recommendations and contributions in the process of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s organization. planning, as well as the final stage of planning under the direction of the Prime Minister.

The conference basically agreed on the planned total capacity of the national power system by 2030 at about 146,000 MW with the structure of different types of power sources as reported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This scale fully meets the forecasted maximum load capacity demand by 2030 at about 93,300 MW, with a reasonable level of power reserve in the national and regional power systems.

Compared with the plan submitted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in March 2021, the total power capacity will be reduced by about 35,000 MW, the volume of 500 kV and 220 kV lines will decrease by about 2,000 km; thereby reducing the need for investment capital in the power industry in the period of 2021-2030.

In the long term to 2045, the conference agreed to basically bring net emissions to zero by 2050; The power sector will focus on green energy transformation, clean energy, minimizing CO2 emissions and the total capacity of the power source is expected to be about 400,000 MW.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to study and collect opinions of localities at the Conference to improve Electricity Planning VIIIand, at the same time, expeditiously complete the appraisal and approval procedures.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the Ministry of Industry and Trade to clarify the criteria for determining important projects, giving priority to each period in order to arrange development space for regions, regions and localities, ensuring transparency and efficiency; synchronously review the planning of power sources and transmission grids; identify the list of important projects, prioritize development in each period, especially in the period of 2021 – 2025, 2026 – 2030.

Research and collect specific opinions from a number of localities on shortcomings, problems and unreasonableness in electricity development investment in the past time to direct the development and improvement of mechanisms and policies. relevant, ensuring the development of the electricity industry in a sustainable, transparent, fair and efficient manner; promptly report issues beyond authority.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade urgently completes the Power Planning VIII documents according to regulations and implements the procedures to meet the Appraisal Council before April 25, 2022.
