Russia launched a series of attacks on the Ukrainian army

According to Reutersthe Russian Defense Ministry announced that air-launched missiles destroyed 16 Ukrainian military facilities overnight, including 5 command posts, a fuel depot, 3 ammunition depots, forces and armor Ukraine.

Russia mobilized its air force, missile force, artillery and air defense system against hundreds of targets across Ukraine. Those strikes took place in the regions of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and the port of Mykolayiv. The Russian Air Force bombarded 108 areas where Ukrainian forces and armor were concentrated.

The Defense Ministry said that it destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones and tanks, and used Iskander missiles to destroy four weapons and equipment depots in the Luhansk, Vinnytsia and Donetsk regions.

In addition, Russian artillery also attacked 315 Ukrainian military targets overnight and shot down three Ukrainian military helicopters, two MiG-29 fighters and one Su-25 aircraft with their air defense systems.

Meanwhile, a series of Russian attacks on military infrastructure in the city of Lviv – Ukraine on April 18 left at least six people dead. A resident in Lviv said thick plumes of gray smoke rose above residential buildings and sirens sounded throughout the city during and after the airstrikes.

“Currently, we can confirm that 6 people were killed and 8 injured, including a child,” Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytsky wrote on social media. He added that four Russian missiles targeted Ukraine’s military infrastructure and a tire production facility.

Lviv, near Ukraine’s border with Poland, has so far not been drawn into the fighting. Instead, the city became a refuge for evacuees from the devastated East.

In the city of Mariupol, Ukraine on April 17 announced that it would fight to the end in this area after the Russian side’s ultimatum to surrender expired.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that if Russian forces destroy the remaining troops defending Mariupol, the peace talks will end. Russian President Vladimir Putin also acknowledged that the negotiations were reaching a “dead end”.
