My wife and I divorced 4 months ago. My son is only 4 years old, she decided to take care of the child, so I had to give it to my wife.

I usually take my son home once a month to play, and when I have more free time, I pick him up twice. Last Friday, I left work early, so I went to my ex-wife’s house to pick up my children and play with my grandparents.

Stepping into the yard, I had just called out when my son ran out of the house and rushed into his father’s lap, crying. I wanted to take him off, ask him what was wrong, but he kept clinging to his father and wouldn’t let go. Clearly something was upsetting the boy.

Picking up the child to step into the house, hearing noises in the bedroom, I rushed in to see, I had to be dumbfounded with the sight I saw. In the bedroom were scattered pieces of objects, the whole room was a mess. And the ex-wife is standing in the middle of the room, her hair is drooping, her face is blank like a lost soul.

When she looked up, her son hugged me and cried: “Dad, I’m scared, I’m scared…”. Only then did I realize that my ex-wife’s condition was not normal at all. After a while she seemed to have calmed down, so I asked her what was wrong with her furiously smashing things. But the ex-wife just kept silent and did not speak.

When I brought my son home, I asked him about it, and guessed that his ex-wife has been so often lately, making him very scared. Asked a friend who is a doctor, he advised me to take her to see a psychologist. So the next day I went to take her to the doctor, the doctor’s conclusion startled me. Ex-wife shows signs of depression.

With this situation, I definitely have to take my son home to take care of him. But leaving her alone with no one beside me, I couldn’t bear it. I think maybe because of the divorce shock, she got out of her mind.

Reuniting with ex-wife is not good because we had many conflicts before getting divorced. But going back and forth to take care of her, my mother was not satisfied. She is trying to introduce a subject for me to remarry.

I’m so awkward, in this situation, how can I do it?
