AP reports, South Carolina state officials are investigating the case shootings at a Hampton County nightclub in the early morning hours of April 17, injuring at least nine people. It was the second mass shooting in the state over Easter weekend, and the third nationally.
Shootings in Cara’s Lounge, Hampton County, South Carolina and one in Pittsburgh left two minors dead and at least 31 injured. There was no immediate information on the severity of those injured. Hampton County is about 129km west of Charleston.
Meanwhile, in Pittsburgh, two minors were killed and at least eight people injured in a shooting at a house party. The shooting, followed by an altercation, occurred around 0:30 a.m. on April 17 during a party at a short-term rental property where hundreds of people gathered – “mostly” of them underage – Scene Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert told reporters.
The Pittsburgh shooting comes just a day after the shooting at a busy shopping center in the South Carolina state capital of Columbia, about 145km north of the nightclub shooting.
Nine people were shot and five injured as they tried to flee the scene at the Columbiana Center, WH “Skip” Holbrook said. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 73. No one faced life-threatening injuries.
“We don’t believe this is random,” Mr Holbrook said. We believe they knew each other and something led to the shooting.”
The Columbia Police Department announced the arrest of 22-year-old Jewayne M. Price, one of three people initially detained by law enforcement in connection with the mall shooting.
Columbia Police said on Twitter that a judge had agreed to release Price on $25,000 bail. The person will be placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor, on charges of illegally carrying a pistol.
Price is the only suspect arrested so far in the mall shooting. The judge allowed Price to travel from home to work during certain hours each day. Price was barred from contacting the victims and anyone else involved in the shooting.
