A young man who took the elevator was fined VND 2 million by the building management for “not wearing a mask”
On April 19, according to information, the authorities are engaged in clarifying the young man’s complaint about being bullied by the Sao Mai Building Management Board (Sao Mai Import-Export and Investment Co., Ltd.) at the address 19 Le Van Luong (Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi) fined 2 million VND for the error of “not wearing a mask”.
As reflected by Mr. D. (31 years old, in Tay Ho, Hanoi) On April 8, while moving in the elevator from the 8th floor to the 1st floor of the building, Mr. D pulled down the mask to scratch his nose, accidentally not pulling it up due to using the phone.
Down the hall on the 1st floor, Mr. D. was reminded by the security guard of the building, so he immediately put on a mask. The whole process was recorded by the building’s security camera.
However, after that, the front desk department of Sao Mai building (this is also where Mr. D’s company rented as an office) contacted the company where Mr. D informed that he had to pay the amount of 2 million VND because of his behavior. vi is not wearing a mask.
Mr. D. reflects on the incident
According to Mr. D. after receiving the notice, Mr. D. actively discussed with the human resources department and asked for a reduction in the fine because he found that the nature of the case was not so serious. Meanwhile, Mr. D. is a probationary employee for 2 months, with a salary of 7 million/month.
On April 14, the representative of Sao Mai Building Management Board continued to call and ask Mr. D. to pay the above amount.
For fear of losing his job and being urged to pay, Mr. D. transferred the amount of 2 million dong to the account of Sao Mai Import-Export and Investment Co., Ltd (Sao Mai Company).
Paying the amount of 2 million VND, Mr. D. learned the rules of the building, he did not mention the behavior of having to wear a mask when moving in this building. In the process of paying the fine, he asked the representative of Sao Mai Building Management Board to provide a receipt or accompanying sanctioning minutes but was not accepted.
“I asked where this fine money would go and if it had to be paid to the state treasury or to any organization, please give me an invoice, but the representative of the building management board did not answer. Meanwhile, I I’m a new employee. When I went to try a job at the company based in Sao Mai building, I was not explained by anyone about the rules of the building.” Mr. D. added.

Regarding the above information, on April 19, the representative of Sao Mai Building Management Board confirmed that he had fined Mr. D. 2 million VND for the act of “not wearing a mask”.
The representative of the Building Management Board explained that Mr. D. did not wear a mask while moving in the elevator down to the building lobby. The regulations on sanctioning violations in the building have been agreed by the leasing companies in the building. The regulations on sanctioning in the building to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic under the direction of the Government, ensure the safety of people working in the building.
