ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr says he’s unvaccinated, will work on NFL Draft from home

Analyst Mel Kiper Jr. monday announcement he won’t be in Las Vegas to watch the NFL Draft later this month because he hasn’t been vaccinated, but will instead offer commentary from his home studio.

Kiper, 61, who has been the face of the NFL Draft, one of ESPN’s hit events for decades, said his decision to forgo vaccinations is “specific to personal history” my man.”

“The NFL Draft has been the highlight of my year, and I’m looking forward to joining the 39th this month on ESPN. For all three days, I will emerge from my home studio in Maryland instead of onsite in Vegas as I am unvaccinated from Covid-19,” Kiper tweeted.

“I fully support people determining what is best for their individual circumstances and recognizing the value of vaccines. Simply put, my decision to get a Covid vaccination was very specific to my personal history. I appreciate my colleagues, especially the production staff and my fellow commentators, for their support and flexibility. NFL fans are the wildest in all of sports, and I can’t wait for another great NFL Draft. ”

Kiper could not be reached for additional comment on Tuesday. ESPN was also not immediately reached.

This year’s NFL draft is from April 28 to April 30.

The event is a televised must-have for tournament fans. The softer spectators who directly attend the competition are known to wear their team’s colors, while others wear more elaborate outfits to show their allegiance.

In the seven-round multi-day event, teams select players based on their needs.

Kiper isn’t the only ESPN commentator to report on being unvaccinated.

In October, longtime ESPN college football and basketball reporter Allison Williams announced that she will be leaving the network under its Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

“I was denied my request for accommodation” to not get vaccinated, Williams said. Instagram. “Effective next week, I will be separating from the company.”

Walt Disney Co., co-owner of ESPN, announced at the end of July that it would require all salaried and non-hourly employees to be vaccinated within 60 days.
