Recently, Google has released a notice saying that the Chrome browser has been hacked and 3.2 billion users worldwide are at risk of being hacked.

CVE-2022-1364 is a Type Confusion vulnerability in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, rated as high severity. This vulnerability is considered rare and allows attackers to execute malicious code.

Vulnerability CVE-2022-1364 was discovered on April 13, 2022 by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis team. This is the second Type Confusion-related bug in V8 and also the third zero-day vulnerability discovered by Google in 2022, preceded by CVE-2022-0609 and CVE-2022-1096.

Currently, Google still keeps details about the vulnerability as well as the hack secret, only revealing the threat level at a high level.

This vulnerability is considered rare and allows attackers to execute malicious code

Users are advised to update to the recently released version 100.0.4896.127 for Windows, Mac and Linux to avoid risks. Users of Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi should also update to available patches.

To update the Chrome browser to the latest version, click on the three vertical dots at the top right of the browser toolbar > Settings > About Google Chrome (About Google Chrome). and please update if still on the old version. Finally, after updating the user should restart the browser.
