National golf player runs for SEA Games 31

Six players from the Vietnamese golf team attending the 31st SEA Games have just spent two exciting days competing at the Hanoi Open golf tournament – An Phat Holdings Cup 2022.

After 5 years of absence, the Hanoi Open Golf Championship returned with the participation of nearly 600 golfers competing over the past 2 days at two Sky and Lake courses (36 holes) of Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club. The mission of the tournament is to continue the traditional value of Capital golf, lay the foundation for the sustainable future of Vietnamese golf, and affirm a golf event of great stature.

Mr. Dang Tat Thanh, General Secretary of Hanoi Golf Association, director of the tournament, said: “The highlight of the tournament is developing young talents. To create a playground for potential athletes, the organizers decided not to charge any athletes under 18 years of age to attend. In addition, with the largest scale ever, the tournament also has a professional group, a group of amateur men and women, and middle-aged men.”

After 2 days of exciting competition, the Hanoi Open golf tournament – An Phat Holdings Cup 2022 has ended successfully. At the end of the final round, the two golfers with the best results in the tournament: Mai Van Loi and Ly Quoc Huy, both had the same gross 72.

However, according to the tournament rules, golfer Mai Van Loi won in the end thanks to the application of countback, becoming the Champion of the tournament with a history of 12 years.

The person who won the championship of the professional tournament group and received the prize of VND 50 million was golfer Le Huu Giang. He surpassed golfer Do Hong Giang in the play-off match (Hole 10, Sky course) after these two golfers had the same score at the end of 18 holes. The champion of FLC Masters received a reward of 30 million VND and 20 million VND for the 3rd place, golfer Ho Khac Luan.

Another highlight of the tournament was the participation of 6 Vietnamese golfers attending the 31st SEA Games including: Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Xuan Khue Minh, Le Chuc An, Pham Thi Yen Vy, Nguyen Dang Minh and Nguyen Quang Tri.

Through the tournament, Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Xuan Khue Minh and their teammates have prepared more carefully for the campaign to conquer the 31st SEA Games at home in May.

Immediately after the tournament, 6 golfers of the national team moved to Hai Phong to prepare for the 2022 National Golf Championship – VinFast Cup organized by the General Department of Physical Education. Sport, Vietnam Golf Association, Tien Phong newspaper, Hai Phong City People’s Committee jointly organized. This is also one of the important tournaments for the players to “run the momentum” for the upcoming Congress.
