Today (April 19), according to information from the Hydrometeorological Station of Lao Cai province, the temperature in Sa Pa national tourist area dropped rapidly, at 10.5 degrees Celsius, the weather was cold and deep. Notably, this is the end of spring and the beginning of summer, but the weather in Sapa is as cold as the middle of winter.

The reason is due to the influence of the cold spell “Nang Ban”, on the night of April 18, the cold air affecting Lao Cai reached the strongest threshold, causing the temperature of localities in the province to drop to the minimum level during this cold wave. .

According to observations of local meteorological stations, the temperature in Lao Cai city is 18.9 degrees Celsius; Pho Rang town (Bao Yen) 18.6 degrees Celsius; Bac Ha highland town was cold 14.5 degrees Celsius; Sapa town is 10.5 degrees Celsius cold.

Mr. Luu Minh Hai, Director of Lao Cai Hydro-Meteorological Station, said that this is a rare cold event that has occurred in late spring in recent years.

Previously, also due to the influence of the strong northeast monsoon, causing a deep cold “Nang Ban” in Sa Pa on April 3, the lowest temperature was recorded down to 5 degrees Celsius.
