The oldest Chihuahua dog in the world, lives longer than the average lifespan of the species

Chihuahua is a popular dog breed, chosen as a pet in the house. The lifespan of this breed is about 12-18 years old. However, TobyKeith has just been recognized by Guinness as being older than the average chihuahua.

TobyKeith the dog lives with his owner in Greenacres, Florida, USA. Born in January 2001, TobyKeith is 21 years old and 97 days old, becoming the oldest Chihuahua dog in the world.

Gisela Shore, the dog’s owner, adopted TobyKeith from an animal shelter when he was just a few months old. She said: “I am a volunteer at the animal care center. The staff here told me about an elderly couple who were sending their dog back because they couldn’t take care of it anymore. I went to see my wife her husband and asked to adopt the dog. They named the dog Peanut Butter but I changed the name to TobyKeith.”

A typical day for TobyKeith wakes up at 6:30 am, he walks around and eats breakfast. His favorite food is a slice of turkey. The rest of the day she plays with the family dogs and parrots, walks and stays by her side while Gisela works from home.

TobyKeith has suffered from heart disease since childhood but fortunately the condition did not cause too much trouble for itself.

When the pet dog turned 20 years old, Gisela and her friends all thought it was the oldest dog they had ever raised. But after that, TobyKeith’s health still showed no signs of illness, so everyone was even happier.

In fact, with a lifespan of 21 years and 97 days, TobyKeith has far exceeded the average lifespan of a Chihuahua, which is only about 15 years.

When receiving the announcement that the dog TobyKeith had reached the world record, Gisela’s family and friends were all overjoyed. To mark the special day, Gisela took her dog TobyKeith to enjoy a rest at the spa, the little dog got his nails trimmed, delicious food, a car ride and received a different treatment than usual.

Over the past 20 years, the owner and TobyKeith have often been attached to each other and are inseparable.

“TobyKeith seems to become my little bodyguard, following me everywhere. At home, all my activities have its shadow. TobyKeith lies beside me while watching TV, sometimes going to bed with me. me,” Gisela said.

Gisela believes that TobyKeith’s health is maintained through regular exercise and a healthy, scientific diet that includes vegetables, rice, chicken and no sweets.

The basic key to prolonging the life of your Chihuahua is following a healthy diet and most importantly, living in a loving, happy, comfortable home.

In Gisela’s house, TobyKeith lives with two other dogs, 7-year-old American bulldog Luna and 3-year-old Lala. There are also two parrots, Coco, 28, and Coqui, 32.

TobyKieth likes to play with Luna and Lala, but has a special relationship with Coco and often goes for walks with the parrot.
