The second arrest was made in a South Carolina shopping center, the shooting left 9 people injured

The second person was arrested in connection with a shooting injured nine people at a shopping center in the South Carolina capital, police said Monday.

Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for a third man in connection with Saturday’s shooting at the Columbiana Center shopping mall in Columbia.

Police believe the violence broke out shortly after 2 p.m., stemming from an argument and all of the injured were trapped in the fire, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said at a news conference.

“You have three people carrying guns into a crowded shopping mall, they are arguing with each other, and choose to draw their guns and shoot – and nine people have been shot,” he said.

The second person arrested was 20-year-old Marquise Robinson, police said. Holbrook said he was arrested in Columbia overnight and faces nine counts of assault and quarrel, as well as counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Jewayne Price, 22, was arrested Saturday. According to Holbrook, Price has been charged with carrying an illegal handgun, and officials will add nine counts of assault and shooting, as well as attempted murder.

A wanted warrant has been issued for a third man known as the shooting suspect, 21-year-old Amari Sincere-Jamal Smith, police said.

Price’s lawyer say sunday that Price shot in self-defense during a confrontation with other shooters.

“I don’t share insights on it,” Holbrook said, when asked Monday.

Of the nine people injured in the shooting, police said, one was still in the intensive care unit on Monday. Six other people were injured in the incident.

The shooting in the mall is one of the several mass shootings across the United States over the weekend, including one that killed two teenagers and injured eight others at a house party in Pittsburgh.

Officials said early Sunday in Hampton County, South Carolina, nine people were injured in a shooting in a living room.
