The work that simulates the 3,000-year-old artifact of the father-son duo causes a fever

A Chinese father and son create replicas of two artifacts unearthed at the famous archaeological site of Sanxingdui (Chengdu, Sichuan).

One of the items was a 3,000-year-old bronze mask discovered in 2019 in a sacrificial pit.

The father and son pair used cardboard to shape the frame, then added clay and paint.

The 9-year-old girl initially asked her mother to help complete this “project”. But the mother, surnamed Zhao, said she had no idea how to help her son with this big homework.

“I asked her dad and he gave me suggestions. My daughter looks for patterns online,” Zhao shared.

The work of the girl and her father, after being posted on social networks, attracted 3 million views. Many people complimented the creative and unique ideas as well as the good combination between father and son.

Artifacts unearthed at Sanxingdui make the site one of China’s most important archaeological discoveries in decades. The claims of a bronze mask found in the sacrificial pit fundamentally changed the way scientists view the first cultures that inhabited China thousands of years ago.
