1,500 billion VND to build a new Tra Khuc bridge 1

On the afternoon of April 19, Chairman of Quang Ngai People’s Committee Dang Van Minh said that he had assigned the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to review and update the content of the competition for the architectural plan of Tra Khuc 1 bridge. new. Of the total investment costs, loans from the World Bank are more than 1,050 billion VND, the rest is from the provincial budget.

The new bridge is expected to be 800 m long, 27 m wide with 6 lanes with pedestrian sidewalks, drainage system, electricity and lighting. “It will take 3-4 years to build a new Tra Khuc 1 bridge because it needs to wait for capital. After building a new bridge, the old bridge will be dismantled”, Mr. Minh said.

Built in 1964, Tra Khuc 1 is the first bridge to cross the river of the same name in Quang Ngai City. The bridge is 643 m long, 7.5 m wide, connecting the central urban area of ​​the province with Truong Quang Trong wards (north of the city), leading to VSIP urban area and My Khe beach.

Previously, the bridge belonged to National Highway 1A, managed by the Directorate for Roads. In 2002, Tra Khuc 2 bridge was inaugurated on the bypass of National Highway 1A, about 1 km east of Tra Khuc 1 bridge, diverting traffic of large trucks and long-distance vehicles from North to South. Tra Khuc 1 Bridge was then handed over to Quang Ngai province for management. The building is only for motorbikes, bicycles and personal cars.

After nearly 60 years, many items of Tra Khuc 1 bridge deteriorated, especially the pile foundation at the bridge pier which has been repeatedly eroded by water. In 2011, the bridge was repaired and upgraded with an investment of 5.4 billion VND, but then this work continued to deteriorate.
