Cau Giay Education Department responded to the case of forcing weak students not to take the 10th grade exam

At this meeting, Mr. Doan Tien Trung, Deputy Head of the Education and Training Department in Cau Giay District, said that right after receiving the information reflected on social networks, on the morning of April 20, the Department worked with the Dich Secondary School. Vong and Nghia Tan Secondary School to verify information.

Through reports from schools and checking school records, the Cau Giay Department of Education and Training said that the number of students in grade 9 in the 2021-2022 school year of Nghia Tan Secondary School is 729 students (16 classes). The number of students transferring schools from the beginning of the year until now is 25.

The number of students in grade 9 for the 2021-2022 school year of Dich Vong Secondary School is 596 students (12 classes). The number of students transferring schools from the beginning of the year until now is 11. Of these, only 3 students specialize in the inner city of Hanoi, the rest move to other provinces.

Therefore, according to Mr. Trung, the information that Dich Vong Secondary School forced students not to take the exam is unfounded.

‘Statistics of 10th grade exam results but not for grading’

Mr. Trung said that the evaluation criteria of schools in general, and of junior high schools in particular, evaluate all criteria. The percentage of students who are admitted to grade 10 is not a criterion to evaluate the emulation of schools.

“We do not evaluate the emulation of schools based on the percentage of students who pass 10th grade in high school,” Trung said.

VietNamNet questions that the reports and statistics are “voluntary”, but in fact, behind that, it seems that parents are not really satisfied.

About the fact that this information is raised every year, Mr. Trung said, every year, wherever information appears, the Department of Education and Training conducts review and prevents negative phenomena.

In schools with cases of transfer, all must report to the Department of Education and Training. After that, the Department of Education and Training also called to discuss with parents and students all knew the information and the reason.

“However, there may also be cases where the student’s parents do not understand the teacher’s intentions correctly, leading to the teacher talking about their child’s academic performance thinking that they are forcing and orienting their children to take the exam. something,” said Trung.

According to Mr. Trung, currently, Cau Giay Department of Education and Training has written requests to all schools to review and report the list of transfer students.

If the school or teacher is found to have forced or advised students not to take the 10th grade exam, they will be handled according to regulations.

“After this incident, we not only reviewed the mentioned schools, but also checked all schools in the area for the list of cases of transfer students,” Trung said.

Mr. Trung said that every year, the Department of Education and Training also collects and statistics the results of the 10th grade exams of students in schools, but not for emulation and ranking.

“Based on the admission scores that schools send to the Department of Education and Training, we also have statistics and a collection of schools achieved in the exam. The purpose is not to emulate, but from there to have a panorama of schools, from there to plan to improve the quality of education”.

Mr. Trung said, according to the plan of the Hanoi People’s Committee, every year, the Department of Education and Training also organizes the distribution of students after secondary school. However, this may not be possible to impose a “norm” on schools because it depends on the academic performance of the school’s students each year.

Mr. Trung also affirmed that the criteria for evaluating teachers are not based on students’ scores in the 10th grade exam.

VietNamNet continues to question whether there is a plan when the problem of their children being weak students is something many parents feel afraid to share, reflect and only dare to state on forums and social networks. festival.

About this, Mr. Trung said, in the coming time, the Cau Giay District Department of Education and Training may have training topics for teachers from homeroom to subject on communication, behavior, mental counseling. management, help and orientation for parents and students.

“This will be one of the content that we will focus on so that we can have training topics. Thereby overcoming phenomena such as time has reflections”, Mr. Trung said.
