Covid-19 deaths plummeted

The Ministry of Health on the evening of April 20 announced 13,271 infections in 61 provinces and cities; 7 deaths, down 37% from the average 7 days ago.

The average number of new infections recorded in the past 7 days was 16,429 cases/day, down 52% from the previous 7 days average.

From 5:30 p.m. on April 19 to 5:30 p.m. on April 20, the country recorded 7 deaths. The average number of deaths recorded in the past 7 days was 15 cases, down 37% compared to the previous 7 days average.

The total number of deaths in Vietnam so far is 42,982, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

The number of serious patients being treated is 896, down 25% compared to the average of the past 7 days. In which, 646 cases of oxygen through a mask, 112 cases of HFNC high-flow oxygen, 26 cases of non-invasive mechanical ventilation, 109 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation, and 3 cases of ECMO.

On April 19, 291,030 more doses of vaccine were injected. The total number of doses administered is more than 210.1 million, including more than 88,820 doses for children 5-11 years old.

In the fourth wave, the number of domestic infections is more than 10.4 million, of which more than 9 million have been declared cured. Five provinces and cities recorded high cumulative infections: Hanoi 1,536,828, Ho Chi Minh City 607,699, Nghe An 477,687, Binh Duong 383,022, Bac Giang 381,519.
