Guardiola, Kane are about to join the same battle line on the golf course

Icons Series follows the format of team pit match, through 9 holes, between the American sports star group in the host position and the “Rest of the World” faction, each consisting of 14 members.

The away team, led by Ernie Els as captain, has two of the biggest names in contemporary football, the famous Man City coach Pep Guardiola, the England striker and Tottenham Kane club.

The other two famous members of this faction are Barty – who retired last month boxer Canelo Alvarez. Barty has won 15 WTA titles, including all three Grand Slams and spent 121 weeks at the top of the world professional women’s tennis table. Canelo is the reigning owner of all four world super middleweight belts – WBO, WBA, WBC and The Ring.

Kane scored a handicap of 4.0 – the high-level segment in amateur golf. Barty is also on handicap 4.0. Not long after hanging up the racket, she won the women’s golf tournament organized by Brookwater in Brisbane.

The US side is led by Fred Couple, including super fisherman Michael Phelps, Oscar De La Hoya – a former boxer with 11 world championship titles, and Ben Roethlisberger – a former NFL player.

Els and Couples are both famous golfers. South African-born Els, playing professionally since 1989, nine years after Couples. On the PGA Tour, Els owns four majors in 19 championships, while Couples won an equal title in a collection of 15 Cups.
