Nearly 13 million American children have COVID-19

According to an updated report by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Children’s Hospital Association, out of a total of nearly 13 million pediatric cases of COVID-19, there were 116 thousand new cases in the past 4 weeks. In recent weeks alone, there have been more than 33,000 new cases in children.

The Academy of Pediatrics said that it is necessary to acknowledge that the pandemic is causing immediate impacts on children’s health. Countries around the world need to identify and address the long-term effects on the physical, mental health, inclusion and social cohesion of this generation’s children and young people.

According to US scientists, vaccination is still the leading measure to prevent COVID-19. Even if a child has been infected with COVID-19, after 3 months after the child has recovered from the disease, the vaccine can be given.
