People on the outskirts of Shanghai prepare for a blockade case

Residents in the vicinity of the city Shanghai I am preparing in case my locality moves from the warning area to the affected area lockdown.

The grocery store in Jinshan district, about 70 kilometers from Shanghai, is always busy with customers coming in and out these days. The number of new cases in the area tends to decrease, but officials urge people to be cautious because a new outbreak can occur at any time. Local people are still in a prepared state of mind, preparing food carefully for worse scenarios.

This locality was locked down in early April, but the anti-epidemic measures were relaxed later. About 70 stores and 3 large supermarkets are still operating at full capacity. A supermarket here has 120 employees, but only three-quarters of the workers can work. The rest are on vacation because they are in epidemic areas.

On April 19, the Chinese city of Shanghai recorded 7 more deaths from COVID-19 in the context of still implementing a blockade due to the rapidly increasing number of cases. The Shanghai Health Commission confirmed that the deaths were all over 60 years old and had underlying medical conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.

To date, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 across mainland China has been more than 4,600 since the outbreak of the disease in late 2019.
