Pham Minh Phong leads, Anh Minh follows closely

Right at the opening round of the 2022 National Golf Championship – VinFast Cup, there were many extremely attractive groups, with the appearance of candidates for the championship. However, a surprise happened when the leading golfer was a relatively unknown name – Pham Minh Phong.

Another big surprise in the South group was the poor performance of Lexus Challenge 2022 runner-up Truong Chi Quan. Golfer born in 1998 suffered 2 double bogeys and 3 bogeys to finish round 1 with 79 strokes, temporarily tied for 43rd.

Chi Quan needs to quickly regain the spirit of improving the existing results, first to get through the cut before thinking about the championship race as the goal.

In the women’s group, the No. 1 candidate for the championship – Nguyen Thao My, whose unstable performance created an opportunity for Doan Xuan Khue Minh to temporarily monopolize the top spot.

The 2017 National Women’s Amateur Champion successfully scored 2 birdies and 3 bogeys and finished the day with a record of 73 strokes, creating a 3 stroke difference from Thao My (76 strokes).

The second day of the tournament continues to take place tomorrow, April 21, with 2 sessions, the earliest tee times in the morning at 6:30 am and the afternoon at 11 am.
