According to RT news agency, Mr. Peskov made such comments about the stalled negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. “The ball is in Ukraine’s field and we are waiting for their response,” Peskov said on April 20. Asked if Russia would set a deadline for Ukraine to respond, Putin’s spokesman said it was up to Kiev.

Mr. Peskov accused Ukraine of often moving away, changing statements. The official concluded that Ukraine’s inconsistency is having very bad consequences on the effectiveness of the negotiations.

Peskov’s comments echoed earlier remarks by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova that Moscow had lost confidence in Ukrainian negotiators. Speaking on the Rossiya 24 news channel, Zakharova used a Russian adage “trust, but need verification”, because “we have not had any trust with these people for a long time. “.

Since Russia Attacks Ukraine On February 24, the two countries conducted many face-to-face and online negotiations to resolve the crisis. The meeting on March 29 was the last time the negotiating teams of the two countries met. On April 12, President Putin said that negotiations between the two countries reached an impasse. He explained, Ukraine refused to implement some of the key proposals of Russia, which is to recognize Crimea as part of Russia and Donbass as an independent republic.

As for Ukraine, an adviser to the President of Ukraine, Alexey Arestovich, yesterday (April 19) warned that peace talks with Moscow could be stopped if Russian troops occupied Mariupol, a strategic Ukrainian port city. On the same day, Mikhail Podolyak, another adviser to the President of Ukraine, revealed that the date of further negotiations with Russia has not yet been set.
