Standing next to his biological wife, seeing the doctor take out the giant baby, the husband rushed home

According to statistics, the average birth weight of a full-term newborn is 2.9 – 3.8 kg. But the couple below panicked when they gave birth to a baby weighing almost twice that average.

Cherral Mitchell (31 years old, living in Oxford, England) has 3 children and all 3 were of average birth weight. After giving birth to her third child, she had an IUD inserted for “family planning”. But in the end, Cherral was still pregnant with the fourth child. She also happily accepted this unexpected good news.

Cherral and her husband were surprised to have “good news” even though she had an IUD inserted.

During her pregnancy, Cherral realized that this time her belly was bigger than the previous three. The doctor also predicted the baby would be quite large and advised her to have a cesarean section. So on October 28, 2021, Cherral was pushed into the operating room. Her husband – Tyson also came in to encourage his wife and witness the moment the child was born.

And the moment the doctor took the baby out of the abdomen, Tyson had to exclaim: “Oh my baby is so cool.” That’s because babies are “giant” than ordinary babies. After weighing, the nurse announced that the baby weighed up to 6.78kg, twice as much as a normal newborn baby.

And they were even more surprised when the baby was born with a “super terrible” weight.

“We didn’t expect him to be that big. Right in the operating room, a nurse looked it up online and said that my baby was ranked 3rd on the list of “biggest” babies in the UK. Really. unbelievable”, Cherral shared.

Meanwhile, she thought that the newborn clothes she brought with her would definitely not fit her baby. Fortunately, the husband, after witnessing the baby’s birth with a “terrible” weight, immediately went home to get clothes bought in advance for the 3-6 month old baby to bring. The Cherrals named their baby Alpha.

Alpha boy is currently 5 months old but weighs nearly 11kg.

Currently, Alpha is 5 months old but weighs nearly 11kg, equivalent to a 1-year-old child. “My 3rd daughter, Tyra is 1 and a half years old but people often mistakenly think Alpha and Tyra are twins. Their weight is also similar.” Cherral confided.

The mother-of-four also said that Alpha really suckled a lot. Because she did not have enough milk, she had to wean her baby. Currently Alpha has started eating porridge and the diet is no different from her 1 and a half year old sister. She always had the feeling that her son had skipped the newborn stage because of his “huge” weight and eating habits.

The dangers when pregnant big

The average weight of a newborn baby in our country today is about 3,000 – 3,200g. In Western countries, newborn babies of 4,000g or more are called large or overweight babies. In our country, obstetricians think that Vietnamese women’s bodies are small, so babies over 3,500g are considered large.

When pregnant, every mother tries to nourish her with the desire to have a healthy baby. However, the fact that the fetus is too large is not good for both mother and baby:

– Increased risk of sudden fetal death, obstetric trauma at birth, postpartum haemorrhage, post-operative and postpartum infections for the mother.

– The risk of later is type 2 diabetes, chronic hypertension with the mother.

– Postpartum lung disease, the risk of respiratory failure for the baby.

– The risk of the baby becoming obese.

– Postpartum metabolic disorders.
