The Ministry of Industry and Trade imposes temporary anti-dumping duties on imported welding materials

Ministry of Industry and Trade just issued a decision to apply the antidumping duty temporary for some welding consumable products originating from Malaysia, Thailand and China. The provisional anti-dumping tax rate applied to 3 countries ranges from 0% to 36.56%.

The Trade Remedies Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the ministry has coordinated with relevant units to carefully review and evaluate the impact of dumping of imported goods on the activities of the manufacturing industry. in the country, the level of dumping of the manufacturing and exporting enterprises of Malaysia, Thailand and China as well as considering and calculating the impact on downstream manufacturing industries and consumers using the goods. investigated.

During the investigation of the case, the Ministry of Industry and Trade strictly followed the provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and related regulations as well as the Anti-Dumping Agreement of the World Trade Organization.

The survey results show that, during the investigation period, the amount of investigated goods imported from Malaysia, Thailand and China increased both in absolute and relative to the total domestic consumption and production volume. of the domestic industry, is the main cause of significant damage to the domestic industry.

Currently, the capacity of the domestic industry with stainless steel welding rods and welding wire products is 6,000 tons and 66,000 tons, respectively, completely meeting the domestic demand.

In addition, the welding materials industry is a supporting industry that is being encouraged and prioritized for development according to Resolution 115/NQ-CP dated August 6, 2020 of the Government on solutions to promote industrial development. support.

The Trade Remedies Department emphasized that in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to work with relevant parties to collect information to assess the comprehensive impact of the case on related parties to come up with a conclusion. final opinion on the case.
