These are the 10 best-selling car models in Vietnam in March 2022

VinFast Fadil won the top position, the B-class sedan group showed overwhelming dominance in the rankings.

After a somewhat dismal business in February, the Vietnamese auto market was active again in March 2022. According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), TC Motor and VinFast, 36,962 cars of all kinds were sold in the past month, up 60% from the previous month.

The list of best-selling cars has undergone a significant change. VinFast Fadil once dropped from the top 10 in February, has made an impressive comeback and immediately took the first place with a strong growth of 268%, pushing the Toyota Corolla Cross to second place.

On the other hand, KIA Carnival after a boom month was no longer in the top 10 best-selling cars in the market. Along with “falling off the top”, there is another compatriot, the Hyundai Grand i10 model, making room for Honda City.

Details of 10 best-selling car models in Vietnam in March 2022

1. VinFast Fadil: 2,567 cars

March 2022, VinFast Fadil leading the whole market with sales reaching 2,567 vehicles sold, an increase of 1,870 vehicles compared to February 2022. The last time this A-class car held the first place was in September 2021.

2. Toyota Corolla Cross: 2,373 vehicles

Toyota Corolla Cross dropped one place, ranked second with sales of 2,373 vehicles, an increase of 1,015 vehicles compared to February 2022. However, this is still the best-selling B-class CUV/SUV model in the market, while maintaining the position of Toyota’s best-selling car.

3. Toyota Vios: 2,228 cars

March 2022 sales of Toyota Vios reached 2,228 vehicles, an increase of 1,047 vehicles compared to the previous month. Thanks to this growth, Toyota Vios leads the sales of B-class sedans for two consecutive months, after a long time being surpassed by rival Hyundai Accent.

4. Hyundai Accent: 2,031 vehicles

After falling to 6th place in the ranking in February 2022, Hyundai Accent regained its sales growth momentum with 2,031 vehicles sold in March 2022, an increase of 1,030 vehicles compared to the previous month.

This makes Hyundai’s B-class sedan rise 2 places in the top 10 and closely follow rival Toyota Vios.

5. Honda City: 1,744 cars

After a month of absence from the Top 10 best-selling cars, Honda City has just made a return with 1,744 cars sold in March 2022, up 126.2 percent compared to February 2022. This achievement has helped Honda City rank 5th in the whole market and 3rd in the segment.

6. Mitsubishi Xpander: 1,622 vehicles

Mitsubishi Xpander still maintains a stable sales performance, with sales in March reaching 1,622 vehicles, an increase of 794 vehicles compared to the previous month. This growth also helps the popular MPV model of the Japanese brand rise 2 places in the top 10.

7. Mazda CX-5: 1,365 cars

Ranked 7th on the list is Mazda CX-5 with sales of 1,365 vehicles in March 2022, an increase of 331 vehicles compared to February 2022. In the context of Hyundai Tucson lack of goods, sales decline, while Honda CR-V has not regained its form, Mazda CX-5 has risen to become the best-selling C-class CUV model in the segment.

8. KIA K3: 1,327 vehicles

In March 2022, sales of KIA K3 reached 1,327 vehicles, an increase of 193 vehicles compared to the previous month. The growth is not so great that the ranking of this model drops 4 places in the Top 10 best-selling cars, but it is still enough to lead the C-class sedan segment in Vietnam.

9. KIA Seltos: 1,280 cars

Sales in March 2022 reached 1,280 vehicles, a slight increase of 25 vehicles compared to the previous month, Kia Seltos fell from 2nd place to 9th place in the whole market. This is the lowest increase in the top 10 because Seltos is in short supply. Although still maintaining the position with Toyota Corolla Cross, the difference in sales of these two models is widening. If the sales performance is not improved soon, the race to the “king” of the B-segment CUV/SUV segment of KIA Seltos will face many difficulties.

10. Hyundai Santa Fe: 1,201 cars

Abundant supply compared to the previous month helped Hyundai Santa Fe sales improve in March 2022 with 1,201 vehicles sold, an increase of 408 vehicles compared to February 2022. That achievement helps Santa Fe continue to lead in the 7-seat SUV segment.
