“Preserving the beauty of death” – that’s a very cool name that Minh Duy (9th grade, Tan Loi Secondary School, Dak Lak) gave to his special passion.
Minh Duy shared this idea on Facebook and received more than 26,000 likes after just one day of posting. This guy’s passion is making animal carcasses, the other thing is that Minh Duy chose the most difficult trick, which is bone staining. This technique is especially difficult and very few people do it in Vietnam, because they have to buy very expensive chemicals from abroad.
Many people have to admire the bone specimens of Minh Duy – a student who is only in grade 9. From naming to Minh Duy’s passion, it also shows that he is a “distinctive” student – able to achieve Studying is not too outstanding but always confident and wants to express himself in the most unique ways.

A simple understanding of bone staining specimens is that Minh Duy will use chemicals for “transparent” animal carcasses. He then re-stained their bones and completed all the rest in a period of 2 weeks (for crustaceans, small amphibians) to 3 months (for large animals like birds, reptiles. ..)
The most difficult thing that Minh Duy encountered in this process was that there were very few chemicals available in Vietnam. Mainly Duy ordered from the US and Canada at a rather expensive price.
The friend confided: “In a rhetorical way, I want death to have its own beauty, respecting the form of life. I know there are many people who love animals very much, so when the ’ems’ die, I also want to keep them with me forever. .
I started my passion by collecting dead bodies from aquarium stores or pet shops, then relatives or friends asked to help. I do it to hope people have a different view of corpses, as well as further study the bone structure when they still exist in the body.”

From his passion, Duy started to develop his business. He received orders from relatives, friends… and gradually thanks to public groups that more people knew about. The price for each specimen ranges from 200,000 to 8 million. “My profit is from 30-40% of samples (including chemicals). Up to now, the peak month I earn up to 8 million”.
Initially, Duy’s parents did not support their son because they thought that this was a fluffy hobby. But Duy is determined to convince by maintaining his grades in class. He divides the time in detail such as studying until 10 pm, then he will take a break, until 11 am to do the template and then try to sleep early.
Duy also shows his parents that he earns money and spends it wisely: “I use the money to buy gifts for myself, pay for school fees, buy things for my family. The rest I will contribute to my father’s charity fund to help poor and disadvantaged children.
I’m pretty quiet outside and self-deprecating. But when I have a strange hobby, I also find myself special and cool. Because of this age range, I see many friends who like to drive and ride. This is what makes me ‘win’ them.”
Duy advises anyone who wants to pursue this passion to invest in a separate laboratory and protective gear. Because in the process of making will have to use many chemicals with harmful odors
The highest month Duy earns 8 million thanks to his passion
After Minh Duy posted, he also received many mixed opinions. Especially, many people accused Minh Duy of “stealing” another female student’s creativity.
The friend confided: “I want to explain it better for everyone to understand. People say that I do this to kill, but in fact in the article, I clearly stated that this is an item collected from dead animals in the aquarium or pet shop. Some people but I think this is also a way for animals to incarnate, making death less heavy.
But the saddest comment is when people tell me to ‘steal’ the idea from a 17-year-old female friend who has done it before. But in fact, this template method has been around since 1784 and I taught myself English to read foreign documents.
It is known that in the near future, he plans to still consider this as a side job and try to pass a special school exam.
