On April 20, the official website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CACC) announced the preliminary results of the investigation into the crash of China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 last month.

In the report it released, the CAAC stated the following:
(1) The ability and qualifications of the flight crew, flight attendants and maintenance staff on duty all meet the requirements.
(2) The aircraft’s airworthiness certificate is still valid, the aircraft’s most recent A test (31A) and last C check (3C) have not exceeded the inspection period regulations and the aircraft also had no defects in previous tests.
(3) There is no dangerous goods on board.
(4) The means and equipment for navigation and monitoring along the route related to the flight show no abnormal signs, and the weather and flight conditions are completely stable.
(5) Before the plane crashed, there was no communication between the crew and air traffic control. The last time to receive the signal of the flight was at 14:16 on March 21, 2022.
(6) The two black box recorders on board the aircraft were both severely damaged by the impact.

On the afternoon of March 21, a Boeing 737 with 132 people on board of China Eastern Airlines crashed in Teng county, Wuzhou city, Zhuang autonomous region in Guangxi province.
The plane crashed into the mountain, burning fiercely and creating many loud explosions continuously. Flight MU5735 departed from Kunming city, Yunnan province at 13:00 (12:00 Hanoi time) and was on its way to Guangzhou city, Guangdong province. The plane carried 132 people, including 123 passengers and 9 crew members.
At present, the exact cause of this catastrophic air crash has not been determined and will continue to be investigated and clarified.
