Another human species that still exists in Asia to this day?

That is the conclusion of the house anthropology Gregry Forth, a former scholar from the University of Alberta (Canada), is presented in a new book he published that brings together many years of research into the mystery of the island of Flores in Indonesia.

In 2004, a group science Scientists led by the University of Wollongong (Australia) are said to have “shaken the world” with the publication in the journal Nature about the discovery of fossils of a completely new human species in Liang Bua cave, in the sedimentary layer. The site is 60,000 to 100,000 years old.

According to Ancient Origins, These fossils carry features common to early humans, but are completely unique to the human fossil record. They shared some features with the extinct humans Homo erectus and the Southern Apes, but also shared features familiar to archaic ape fossils, which should have long since disappeared.

It is a very different human species from us Homo sapiens, although belonging to the same genus Homo (Homo). They are small, just over 1.2 meters tall, the brain cavity is only about one-third that of Homo sapiens. But they also have their own tools, turning into boats. They were named Hobbits” – Homo floresiensis.

Prior to that discovery, Professor Gregry Forth had spent many years living among the Lio people, a farming ethnic group in the mountains of central Flores. In the early 1990s and 2000s, he heard many times about a small, peculiar ape man occupying the Lia Ula cave on the slopes of a dormant volcano.

Some Lio villagers say these hominins, which they call Ebu Gogo, were no longer here after the last one was killed by the ‘Ua’, their neighbour, some 200 years ago. But others insist that Ebu Gogo is still lurking in the surrounding caves and jungle, with more than 30 witnesses claiming they’ve seen the creatures at least once.

When the study from the University of Wollongong was published, Professor Forth was startled when the description of Homo floresiensis completely matched the description from eyewitnesses who had seen Ebu Gogo. From there he hypothesized that species ancient people This species may still exist, lurking in the wild and mysterious jungles of Indonesia, at least until a few hundred years ago.

More research on this will be needed, at least some actual remains of Ebu Gogo dating back to recent times to verify whether they are mythical or the last living interspecies cousin. parallel to Homo sapiens. By the time our species was born, there were at least 8-9 other human species on the planet, but they all went extinct one by one.
