On the afternoon of April 21, at the press conference of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, Ms. Le Thien Quynh Nhu, Chief of the Office of the Department of Health, said the above information.
Specifically, by the end of April 20, Ho Chi Minh City had 93,562 children aged 5-11 receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. In which, 3,321 children were vaccinated from the previous day. The city recorded 1,798 children who had to postpone vaccination. In addition, 458 children were assigned to the hospital for injection.
“The cases of children with post-injection reactions were detected early, treated promptly, and are currently in stable health. The vaccination work is safe and orderly and ensures the prevention of epidemics,” said Ms. Nhu.

Specific data and level of post-injection reactions have not been published in the press conference. However, the Department of Health confirmed that all children participating in Covid-19 vaccination in Ho Chi Minh City so far are safe.
Nhu also recommended, in case the child has pain or high fever after the injection, parents can contact many information channels for advice. Specifically, in addition to the phone number of the medical station, provided by the medical staff at the injection site, parents can call the Hotline 1022, choose branch 3.
Switchboard 1022 branch number 3 has experienced professors, associate professors of the Medical Association of Ho Chi Minh City, Center for Disease Control, infectious disease experts… ready to answer and provide information for women brother.
Consultation time is on all days of the week, according to the fixed time frame: 8 am-12 pm, 14 pm-16 pm, 19 pm-21 pm.
The chief of the office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that the city currently recorded the number of new Covid-19 cases and the number of severe cases had decreased sharply, and there were no deaths for many days. This is the effectiveness of vaccination, creating immunity in the community as well as thanks to the campaign to protect people in at-risk groups. However, the health sector is still cautious about the possibility of new strains appearing in the future.
In addition, the recognition of an epidemic becoming an endemic infectious disease is at the national and continental level, not depending on the situation of a locality. “This will be reviewed and evaluated by the Ministry of Health,” said Ms. Nhu.
As planned, Ho Chi Minh City will vaccinate nearly 900,000 children aged 5-11, starting from April 16. The vaccine distributed to date is that of Moderna.
