iPhone 16 will have an edge-to-edge screen

The iPhone 2024 is said to have a front-facing camera and Face ID hidden under the display, making it the first Apple phone to use a true full-screen display.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities, Apple is finalizing the specifications to promptly integrate the camera and facial recognition sensor under the screen on the model Iphone Pro the next two years.

Hidden cameras have appeared on some Android phones but have not been able to achieve the same image quality as regular cameras. Meanwhile, Apple often waits for technologies to mature to a certain level before putting them into products to ensure user experience.

According to Mr. Kuo, to improve the image quality of the hidden camera, Apple will upgrade the ISP image processor and editing algorithms. Over the years, the company has continuously improved the camera quality on smartphones thanks to its AI image processing algorithm as well as the iPhone’s huge image database.

Putting Face ID under the screen on the iPhone 16 Pro means that Apple will no longer equip the Touch ID fingerprint sensor under the screen for the iPhone and may stop developing this technology.

Many users expect Apple to equip Touch ID on iPhone because they have difficulty in unlocking Face ID when wearing a mask. However, since iOS 15.4, Apple has added a feature that allows Face ID to recognize and unlock without requiring the user to remove the mask.
