Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has warned that Israel will be targeted by the country’s armed forces if Israel takes the “smallest action” against Iran.

Raisi’s warning came as negotiations on a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear capabilities stalled in Vienna, although Tehran says Iran’s nuclear programs are used for peaceful purposes.

However, Israel opposes the agreement, saying it is not enough to limit Iran’s nuclear program or Iran’s military activities in the region. Israeli officials say they will unilaterally do what is necessary to protect their country.

President Raisi spoke directly to Israel during a speech at the annual military parade of Iran’s armed forces.

“If Israel makes even the slightest move against the nation of Iran, the center of the Zionist regime will be the destination of our armed forces,” Raisi said, referring to Israel’s Tel Aviv.

President Raisi did not give details but said Iran was watching “closely” any Israeli moves.

Iran has not recognized Israel since the 1979 Islamic Revolution that overthrew a pro-Western monarchy and brought Islamist elements to power. That appears to aid anti-Israel militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Raisi says Iran’s military might is a deterrent. He said the country’s military has been trying to improve its military capabilities despite years-long sanctions against the country over Tehran’s nuclear program. The parade on Monday 18 April showcased aircraft such as fighter jets, helicopters, drones and air defense systems as well as military tanks, missiles and ships. navy.

Israel has in recent years improved its diplomatic relations with neighboring Arab states in the Persian Gulf, which has angered Iran’s leaders. Tehran has also blamed Israel for sabotage of its nuclear sites and assassinations of its nuclear scientists.

The nuclear deal collapsed four years ago when former President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the nuclear deal and imposed crushing sanctions on Iran. Meanwhile, Iran has greatly expanded its nuclear sector.

Until 2003, US intelligence agencies and the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) believed that Iran had an organized military nuclear program. Iran insists its nuclear program is aimed at generating energy and for medical purposes.
