In a recent statement from Bill Dally, Vice President of Research at Nvidia, said the company has started designing the chip using an automated standard cell layout generator called NVCell. This not only evaluates and finds man-made errors, but can also design chips their own at a much faster rate than humans. Apparently, it only takes two GPUs to do 92% of the work in a few days, while this takes 10 people to complete in the span of a year.
With what AI does, the human work is only 8%. In some cases, these results help to create better chip designs. So it can save labor and is better than man-made chip.
