A performer at a South Carolina haunted house was shot after scaring a group of visitors over the weekend when a man opened fire with a gun he thought was a prop, police said. said.

Myrtle Beach Police said Keal Latrell Brown, 39, was touring the Haunted Mansion of the Hollywood Wax Museum on Saturday with several others when the group was spooked by a performer.

One of the group fell to the floor and a gun slid to the ground and lodged in Brown’s leg.

Brown told investigators he believed the gun was part of the show and “picked it up and fired it twice,” police said. Authorities said he hit the performer on the shoulder once.

Brown was arrested Tuesday and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor “for knowingly giving the firearm used in the shooting to a minor,” police announced. on Wednesday.
