Along with the above strong commitment, the German automaker also said the solutions it will implement to achieve the set plan. First, Mercedes-Benz aims to generate zero emissions by expanding its lineup of electric vehicles. Those are not only passenger cars but also electric commercial trucks.
The next step is to strengthen the zero-carbon charging system. Currently, Mercedes-Benz has 300,000 charging points across Europe and is rolling out the same in the US market. Mercedes-Benz says it is working with suppliers to ensure that all steel and aluminum used in cars is carbon neutral. Further, the German automaker aims to have 70% of energy for production by 2030 from renewable energy sources.
Not only aiming for green and sustainable production, Mercedes-Benz also surprised when announcing that by 2030, 30% of its senior management positions will be held by women. At the same time, paying more attention to human rights in the use of labor.
