Primary school students in Thanh Hoa are required to check and mark exams

Previously, on April 14, Nhu Xuan district’s Department of Education and Training sent an official dispatch to primary and secondary schools in the district guiding the organization of viewing and marking exams for the 2nd semester of primary and secondary school year 2021- 2022.

The official dispatch clearly states that the chairperson of the examination council is the principal of the local unit, the vice president of the examination council is the vice principal, or the head of a specialized team of another unit is dispatched to perform the task. The schools assign enough 2 proctors / 1 exam room, including 1 proctor at the local unit and 1 proctor assigned from another unit.

According to the teachers here, the fact that the Office of Education and Training of Nhu Xuan district issued the above dispatch is not in accordance with the guiding spirit of the Ministry of Education. Because, according to Circular 27/2020 of the Ministry, for primary school students, the end-of-semester examination and assessment is organized by the school itself.

As Xuan is a mountainous district, the fact that officials and teachers go to examine and mark cross-exams at schools dozens of kilometers apart causes inconvenience and puts pressure on officials and teachers. Not only that, the cross-examination also causes anxiety and stress for students.

Mr. Do Van Chung, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nhu Xuan district, explained that because some schools have not assessed student quality closely for a long time. Therefore, the Department of Education has reported to district leaders the plan to consider cross-examination and cross-marking to perform better quality assessment.

According to Mr. Chung, the Department issued a set of general exam questions to survey and evaluate students in the whole district. Each school dispatches 3 people to watch the exam at your school (crossover). This is a new job, to evaluate the quality of mass education for students at the end of term 2 to be more objective and better.

Mr. Ta Hong Luu, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, said that the cross-over between schools in the assessment of primary school students is unnecessary and inappropriate. Accordingly, the Department has consulted with the Education Department of Nhu Xuan district to comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education.
