Prime Minister: Anti-speculation, raising material prices to remove difficulties for North-South Expressway
The Prime Minister has just directed 9 localities to handle cases of speculation and arbitrarily raising the price of construction materials to ensure the completion of the North-South expressway project.
The above 9 localities include: Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Thua Thien – Hue, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, and Tien Giang. Accordingly, these localities are required to publish monthly prices and price indexes of construction materials, ensuring adequate availability of construction materials for traffic works, accurately reflecting market prices. market and volatility in the project construction area.
Recently, the high price of materials has made it difficult for many North-South Expressway contractors, the execution price of the bidding packages has increased by 20-30% compared to the winning price. Enterprises said that the costs incurred will be adjusted according to the price index published by the locality.
However, the announcement of local prices and price indexes is not close to reality. For example, at the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay project, the current price of steel is more than 19,000 VND per kg, but the published price of the locality is more than 18,000 VND; The current land price is 158,000 VND per m3 while the published price is 105,000 VND.

In addition, localities are also required to complete the remaining site clearance soon of the East North-South Expressway Construction Project in the period 2017-2020.
Currently, the compensation and site clearance of this project has reached 99.99% but there are still some problems. The locality needs to hand over the premises in April.
Particularly in Ninh Binh and Binh Thuan provinces, it is necessary to mobilize people to create conditions for contractors to partially exploit land materials right after compensating for houses, architectural objects, trees, crops…
The construction project of the North-South Expressway to the East in the period 2017 – 2020 is an important national project approved by the National Assembly for investment.
The Government has approved the goal of completing the entire project (including 11 component projects with a total length of 652.86 km) in 2024, of which 4 component projects: Mai Son – National Highway 45, Cam Lo – La Son, Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet – Dau Giay must be completed and put into operation this year.
