Russia declared all employees of the diplomatic missions of the Baltic states, among them Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania unwelcome.

On April 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Latvia and Estonia, along with the charities of Lithuania, and conveyed to them a note protesting the unfriendly actions of these countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the consulates of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in St. Petersburg, along with the Latvian consulate in Pskov will be closed.

Earlier this month, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said it would close the Russian consulate general in Narva and the ambassador’s office in Tartu. Meanwhile, Latvia closed the Russian consulates in Liepaja and Daugavpils, while Lithuania also closed the consulate in Klaipeda.

Russia’s move to declare diplomats from the Baltic states unwelcome comes not long after several European countries expelled Russian diplomats in response to the military campaign. of this country in Ukraine.
