Talking to women, “fake husband” was doused with gasoline and burned to death

On April 21, the People’s Court of Vinh Long province opened a first-instance criminal trial to try defendant Le Thi Dung (37 years old; living in Binh Tan district, Vinh Long province) for the crime of “murder”.

According to the indictment, Mr. NTT and Dung have been living together as husband and wife since about November 2019 at T’s father’s house. Both have opened a pub in Binh Tan district.

In the process of living together, doing business in pubs, because Mr. T. often drank, made phone calls to other women, so the two often argued, and Dung was even beaten by “a casual husband”.

On September 12, 2021, Mr. T took Dung to drink at a friend’s house. There was a conflict between the two. Mr. T. was harsh with Dung, so Dung left first. After that, Mr. T went home to continue arguing with Dung and then went to the phone room to call another woman.

At 21:00 of the same day, seeing that her “fake husband” was still on the phone, Dung went to draw gasoline from the motorbike, then went into the room and threw it on Mr. T., turned on the lighter, causing the fire to explode violently. The fire was then extinguished, Mr. T. was quickly taken to the emergency room by his family, but due to his injuries, Mr. T. died.

In court, Dung confessed sincerely, repented… After considering the circumstances of the case, the jury sentenced Dung to 9 years in prison.
