April 20, Tesla The company posted a record profit of $3.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, an increase of more than 650% year-on-year, according to a press release. The company’s revenue for the same period also increased 81 percent to $18.8 billion.

The company produced more than 305,000 electric vehicles during the period, slightly below the level of the previous quarter, but enough to lift production above 1 million units over the past year.

In the first quarter of 2022, Tesla delivered 310,048 vehicles to customers. The first four months of 2022 are an important period for Tesla when new factories in Germany and Texas in the US start operating, delivering deliveries from March and April 2022, respectively.

In a meeting with investors, billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, believes that the plan to increase production is on the right track despite the disruption of the global supply chain and the impact of anti-blockade orders. COVID-19 outbreak in China.

However, Mr. Musk predicts the company can ramp up production and complete 1.5 million cars this year.

Rising costs of lithium, palladium and nickel are a challenge for Tesla and the auto industry in general, said Karl Brauer, an analyst at ISeeCars. “The cost and supply concerns associated with various battery components are not going away and are likely to increase as global demand and production of electric vehicles increases,” he said.

Tesla is considered to have handled supply chain disruption better than most other automakers by using less scarce chips and rewriting software.

However, the company also acknowledged difficulties due to supply chain disruptions, as well as soaring raw material costs, which have caused its factories to operate below capacity in recent quarters.
