The iPhone 14 release schedule faces the risk of delay

Apple orders have been moved to Foxconn’s production line. However, this option continues to be affected when the Chinese city of Zhengzhou has just been forced to implement local quarantine measures. Those infected with COVID-19 are quarantined, while the rest are banned from leaving their homes.

This order is being applied at the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone itself, where Foxconn’s largest iPhone assembly plant is located. It is highly likely that the company will suspend the production of Apple smartphones. Previously, Foxconn had to stop lines at its own factory in Shenzhen due to quarantine restrictions.

Experts say it’s important for Apple that everything is limited to a 2-week quarantine. Suspensions for a longer period have the potential to derail production plans and disrupt sales plans. The worst case scenario is being quarantined for 2 months and not being able to transfer orders to Foxconn. In this case, that could affect around 6-10 million iPhones.

Foxconn recently started production of the latest generation iPhones for Apple at its Indian factory in Chennai. At the same time, the domestic release of the Pro version has not yet begun.
